Discovery revamps comms team

Discovery Networks Europe has restructured its press office and comms department, splitting up its media relations and consumer marketing efforts.

The move follows the decision to overhaul the business model of the network responsible for The Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids and a raft of other stations.

DNE is to separate the work of the firm's UK and continental Europe, Middle East and African operations.

Alanna Carty, director of consumer marketing and PR across the UK and EMEA, will become director of marcomms for the UK alone. She will be responsible for all PR and corporate comms.

The firm is recruiting for a PR manager who, alongside a marketing manager, will report to Carty. That person will then oversee a team of six.

The firm is understood to be finalising plans for its PR operation in the rest of the EMEA region.
