INTERNATIONAL: Edelman buys up IC&M to boost its Spanish offering

MADRID: Edelman Spain has bought Madrid-based agency IC&M Communication and Marketing to boost its consumer PR offering.

The acquisition of IC&M, which was founded in 1995 by Antonio Fournier, brings Edelman's headcount in Spain to 60 and adds revenues of £490,000 to the agency's existing Spanish revenues of more than £2m.

Edelman Iberia president Javier Puig del Campo said: 'For the six years since we launched we have been building up our corporate and public affairs practice, but that is now established and we needed to concentrate on developing consumer to get it to the same level.'

It is not yet known whether the IC&M brand will remain in some form and Fournier has not yet been given a job title.

Del Campo said Fournier will play a wider role in business development and help with European strategies. His sister Marta Fournier takes up the post of director for the Spanish consumer practice.
