PUBLIC SECTOR: Worcester County Council to review comms function

Worcester County Council is to carry out a review of its communications function ahead of a Best Value inspection by the Audit Commission.

The review is expected to highlight a need for improvements in internal communications, according to PR manager Kevin Galloway, who said: 'I think we could do more to communicate with our staff.'

The council is in talks with Grant Riches Communications consultant Carol Grant with a view to assisting in the review.

The review should be completed within six months, with Audit Commission inspectors visiting in 2003.

Worcester currently has a four-strong core PR team, headed by Galloway.

There are also six council officers with PR as part of their remit in services including transport, green issues and tourism.
