Launch PR set to drive roll-out of Timex GPS watch

US watch manufacturer Timex has appointed London-based Launch PR for the global roll-out of the world's first GPS satellite timepiece.

The three-month campaign begins this week at a watch fair in Basel, Switzerland, and will be managed through a programme of global VNRs (video news releases) aimed at world TV networks.

The fledgling agency - which operates on a launch-by-launch basis - was appointed without pitch.

'We will also be targeting the timepiece, consumer, trade and specialist lifestyle press,' said Launch MD Johnny Pitt, who reports to Timex V-P for brand marketing worldwide, Gianni Gianfanga, and European marketing director Alyson Green.

GPS - global positioning systems - technology uses satellites to find the exact time.

'It was imperative we built lifestyle street appeal and a global lifestyle news agenda,' said Pitt.
