SAN FRANCISCO: Ogilvy Public Relations has brought on Aleena Abrahamian as EVP of digital content and social, a newly created role.
Abrahamian will oversee digital and content strategy for four West Coast offices: Denver, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco, where she is based. She will also manage the content and digital teams in those locations.
"I love the fast pace and ever-changing pace of this industry," Abrahamian said. "I want to create more integrated offering and extend our existing work and make sure we have the right team [in place]. There's a great resource and talent at Ogilvy and I’m looking to bring in more unique talent."
Abrahamian officially started November 14. She will manage a team of about 18 people across the four offices, which she says she’s looking to expand. Abrahamian will report to Dan LaRusso, MD of Ogilvy PR’s San Francisco and Denver offices.
"When I started diving into my role, I started looking two things: one was culture and the other was clients," said LaRusso. "We needed somebody who could step in this role with broad background and view. I wanted to mash those two things together -- the culture fit with can-do attitude and the background and chops to back it up."
Abrahamian joins Ogilvy from an SVP role at VaynerMedia and a contract position with Athleta as digital/social content marketing director. She has spent time with several agencies over her career, including Current, Burson-Marsteller, and Weber Shandwick.
Ogilvy PR’s regional CEO for North America Robert Mathias announced last week he was stepping down at the end of this year. The agency also upped Kathy Baird to North America head of content and social in August and expanded the head of Ogilvy Media Influence Jennifer Risi’s role to include chief communications officer.
