NEW YORK: Ketchum has made two leadership changes in its healthcare practice, appointing Amy McCarthy director of client development for the North American healthcare unit. Tom Jones is taking on her previous role as New York healthcare practice director.
Both started in their new positions last month.
McCarthy will work closely with North American client development director Michael O’Brien to build and maintain client relationships in the healthcare practice while broadening her scope to North America as a whole. She will continue to report to Mike Doyle, partner and director in New York, in the new role.
McCarthy has worked at Ketchum as New York healthcare practice director since 2003. Previously, she worked at Chandler Chicco Agency and Burson-Marsteller.
Jones is stepping into McCarthy’s former role, also reporting to Doyle. He is responsible for building the New York team, overseeing existing client business, and growing the practice.
Jones joined Ketchum after serving as head of healthcare at Makovsky. Previously, he held roles at Calvin Communications, W2O Group, and Novartis. Jones also worked at Ketchum from 1995 to 2002 as VP and group manager.
"People should understand the work we do in healthcare communications is transforming how people are getting treated," Jones said. "From diagnosis to treatment, in between all of that is information. That's part of a cultural shift in healthcare."
McCarthy could not be reached for comment.
