Cisco's Nigel Glennie joins Hilton Worldwide as external comms VP

He will report to Aaron Radelet, SVP of corporate communications and corporate responsibilities.

WASHINGTON: Hilton Worldwide has hired Cisco’s Nigel Glennie as VP of external comms.

He is based in McLean, Virginia.

Glennie has a slightly smaller team than he did at Cisco, which was about 20 people including contractors. He is reporting to Aaron Radelet, SVP of corporate communications and corporate responsibility.

While Glennie did not comment about specific job responsibilities, he said Hilton was interested in his background in corporate PR, crises, issues management, corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions.

Glennie had worked in Cisco’s comms division in San Francisco since 2007, most recently as director of global corporate communications.

"It had to be a good opportunity for me to be able to look my team in the eye and say, ‘I’m leaving for this,’" he said. "I wanted them to understand, and they do, because it’s a great opportunity."

Glennie’s other positions at Cisco included executive comms manager, crisis and issue communications manager, and senior manager of corporate comms, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has also worked at Myer, Telstra, Carter Holt Harvey, and BHP.

Hilton Worldwide CEO Christopher Nassetta recently told media outlets that his company would consider testing "hostel-like" hotel brand catering to millennials as it navigates the sharing economy.
