The Expedia-owned hotel booking website has been gauging interest among a number of agencies for the brief, which has been held by Frank PR for six years.
In 2010, Frank was hired alongside Lewis PR, which was recruited to handle a corporate brief, and We Are Social, which works on its social media strategy. However, the current pitch relates to the consumer account only.
It follows changes at Hotels.com's UK-based in-house team, which has been expanded with new appointments including Simon Matthews, previously European PR manager for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, who joined in May as senior PR manager, EMEA.
Hotels.com declined to comment when approached by PRWeek.
In the US, H+K is supporting Hotels.com’s campaign around the American Presidential Election, which will see the brand’s mascot Captain Obvious physically ‘run’ in the presidential race across the country, using Hotels.com for accommodation. The campaign starts next month.
