The committee, which also includes Barrick head of PR Vince Borg and IR head Richard Young, will integrate the firm's IR and PR activity to ensure consistency.
Wynne-Morgan said: 'The first task is to work out how the company should position itself. We have been taken on to put real focus into Barrick's communications effort and to integrate all IR and media relations.'
Wynne-Morgan has provided personal PR for Barrick chairman Peter Munk for 30 years, but this appointment marks the first time Barrick has hired a consultancy on a global brief of this nature.
Toronto-based Barrick - which is listed on various stock exchanges around the world - produced 6.1 million ounces of gold last year.
