UK Power Networks appoints Bell Pottinger partner to new senior comms role

UK Power Networks has appointed Julie Minns as head of customer engagement, a new role where she will oversee external communications, stakeholder engagement and sustainability for the UK's largest electrical distributor.

Minns was previously a partner in Bell Pottinger’s political team.

She also previously served as head of public policy and corporate responsibility at Three, spending 13 years at the mobile network operator, managing consumer regulation as well as public affairs.

UK Power Networks distributes more than a quarter of the UK's electricity, working in London, the South East and the East of England. It employs 5,600 staff..

The electrical distributor said Minns’ background in the voluntary sector, working for Scope and the NSPCC, meant she would bring a wealth of understanding and experience of stakeholder engagement and consumer issues at a local and national level.

"Her appointment will strengthen our engagement with stakeholders and ensure we continue to draw on their feedback to deliver the best, most cost-effective electricity supply to 8.1m homes and businesses," said Matt Rudling, UK Power Networks’ director of customer service.
