Wine firm Gallo to use Consolidated for consumer task

Californian wine-maker Ernest & Julio Gallo has turned to Consolidated Communications for trade and consumer PR after an agency review.

Consolidated won the work after a five-way pitch, sparked by the appointment of the wine-maker's first in-house PR manager, Mairead Quinn (PRWeek, 18 January).

The agency is set to work alongside a yet-to-be appointed specialist wine consultancy, which will handle Gallo's fine wine brands.

Gallo said it hoped to announce the results of the specialist pitch within weeks.

Consolidated will oversee consumer and trade PR across Gallo's brand portfolio. The account is led by Consolidated operational director Debbie Harvey, who heads a team of three and reports to Quinn on the business.

Consolidated replaces Jackie Cooper PR, which declined to take part in the repitch.
