Axioma names Steve Mann CMO

He is a veteran of SAP and LexisNexis.

NEW YORK: Risk- and portfolio-management services company Axioma has brought on Steve Mann, a veteran of SAP and LexisNexis, as CMO.

Mann will work to grow Axioma in its existing market in the equity space and into new verticals, while its AOR, Vested, continues to handle communications. The company did not have a CMO immediately before Mann’s arrival, a spokesperson for the agency said.

"The company is at an inflection point," Mann said. "It has good growth, good product expertise, a rich product set, and a market in need of a solution. Marketing will help grow that awareness for solutions and demand for solutions outside the core market."

Mann will also develop and execute an influencer-driven marketing campaign and an account-based approach because of the "targeted" nature of the market. He is reporting to chairman Bill Guttman.

"It’s a three-pronged approach," Mann said. "We want to defend the core, expand the core, and move into adjacencies."

As global VP at SAP, Mann focused on social media strategy and customer experience, as well as leading services marketing, market intelligence, and its competitive program team against Oracle.

"If you look at the arc of my career there, it was really about scaling nascent, small teams to make them more impactful or to repair organizations that weren’t working at full capacity," Mann said.

Similarly, Mann explained the marketing team at Axioma has only a "handful of individuals" and the company has developed an "aggressive growth plan over the next 24 months."

Most recently, Mann was acting chief digital and marketing officer at management consulting firm Adjuvi, according to his LinkedIn profile. Mann also led a consulting firm for two years as CEO of AbleBrains from 2009 to 2011. AbleBrains focused on "digital, social, and marketing science services" for commercial and nonprofit organizations, according to a statement.
