Sony Pictures Television hires PMK-BNC's Stacy Weitz as comms VP

Weitz has over 12 years of experience in the entertainment and media industries.

CULVER CITY, CA: Sony Pictures Television has hired PMK-BNC’s Stacy Weitz as VP of communications.

Weitz started in the role last week and reports to Paula Askanas, EVP of communications for Sony Pictures Television. She replaces Michael Maney, who now heads internal comms at Target as senior director, communications.

She is tasked with representing Sony Pictures Television’s production and distribution activity across Latin America and Asia. She will also be responsible for internal communications at the company, according to a release.

Weitz has over 12 years of experience in the entertainment and media industries. She was not immediately available for comment.

She joins Sony Pictures Television from PMK-BNC, where she has worked since 2011, most recently as SVP, corporate communications. During her tenure she oversaw media relations, marketing, and internal communications for the Interpublic Group agency.

Additionally, she developed successful business communications strategies, created and published an award-winning internal agency publication, and helped the agency earn dozens of industry awards, according to a release.

Earlier in her career, Weitz was a corporate communications executive at United Talent Agency from 2008 to 2011. While there, a release said that she drove trade and business media relations across multiple areas of the entertainment industry.

She previously held positions at entertainment agencies Bender/Helper Impact and Jane Ayer PR.
