Earlier in her career, Wilkinson worked for the Government body UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), both as director of special projects and as director of local policy.
@prweekuknews Reaching out to stakeholders to hear what they need from the UK's trade policy. Success starts with listening.— Rosa Wilkinson (@RMW136) August 12, 2016
Wilkinson joins the DIT from government body the Intellectual Property Office, where she was director of innovation and strategic comms for five years.
In her new role, which she began this week, Wilkinson tweeted that she would be "reaching out to stakeholders to hear what they need from the UK's trade policy."
UKTI was replaced by the DIT when it was created in July, the month after the UK public voted to leave the European Union. The department did not respond to a PRWeek request for further information on Wilkinson's appointment.
