WPP boss Sir Martin Sorrell and seasoned journalist Rageh Omaar are among speakers at the PRCA National Conference in London next month, for which PRWeek has been confirmed as official media partner.

The 23 September event will this year be entitled The Power of Communication, focusing on the value that organisations of all kinds now place on communications.

Alongside ITV broadcaster Omaar and Sorrell – whose network owns agencies including Burson-Marsteller and H+K Strategies – speakers including foreign affairs and freedom of information expert Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, the radio host Nick Ferrari, and PRWeek editor-in-chief Danny Rogers.

Information on tickets and the full line-up are available on the PRCA website.

PRCA director general Francis Ingham said of the conference's new name – which follows the announcement of a new name for the organisation itself: "It is time to acknowledge the hugely positive role that communications plays in modern society at every level, and the breadth and range of communications to engage with people in all areas of society."

Rogers said: "The Power of Communications should again provide vital food for thought – and networking opportunities – for PR professionals. I'm delighted to play a part in that."

The event will take place at BAFTA, and will be chaired by PRCA chair Steffan Williams of Porta. It is sponsored by software firm Paprika.

Among the highlights of the 2015 event was a leading ad man telling attendees that the advertising industry was "running scared" of PR.
