Anne Espiritu leaves Yahoo (and Silicon Valley) for Oscar

She will be replaced by Sheila Tran, head of communications at Polyvore

SUNNYVALE, CA: Yahoo’s Anne Espiritu is leaving her role as head of global PR for the company.

Espiritu has worked at the Sunnyvale, California-based company for four years. She will be replaced by Sheila Tran, head of communications for Polyvore, the shopping website bought by Yahoo last year, according to Espiritu’s blog post about her departure.

Espiritu will join Oscar, the health insurance company based in New York, as VP of communications and corporate social responsibility.

While at Yahoo, Espiritu was named to PRWeek’s Innovation 50 list in 2014.

Previously, Espiritu spent nearly seven years at Google doing consumer and product PR. She has also worked as a research associate at the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group.

Verizon announced plans last week to buy Yahoo for $4.83 billion, then merge it with AOL, which the telecommunications giant acquired in May.

Yahoo is also investigating reports that a hacker obtained information for more than 200 million accounts and put them up for sale on the dark web.
