DIARY: Freelances party on through 'booming' market

High spirits at last week's Xchangeteam bash celebrating, er, the booming freelance recruitment market.

Despite the doom and gloom engulfing those hacking away at the PR job placement coalface, freelance agency Xchangeteam managed to raise a smile or two at its quarterly evening meeting (read: booze-up) - with PRWeek as a special guest.

Xchangeteam spokeswoman Charlie Adams says the event, which saw more than 60 Xchangeteamers rattling around in Leicester Square's capacious Zoo Bar, was a great success: 'It's not doom and gloom for us - in fact, business is booming,' she insists.

One person especially pleased to have a chance to celebrate is Andrew Morrison.

Morrison, who is now on Xchangeteam's books, was until the recent collapse of Enron one of five PR managers at the energy behemoth's European headquarters in Victoria.

'It's always good to see the opportunities that are out there,' he says, outlining the stout view espoused by former Enron chairman and chief executive Kenneth Lay.
