Sauce takes travel brief

Sauce Communications has begun handling the PR for The Private Travel Company, a newly launched travel specialist creating bespoke holiday experiences, and sister firm, the tour operator Caribtours. The Private Travel Company was founded in January. Originally more focused on food and restaurants – it previously had Gordon Ramsay as a client - Sauce's clientel now includes a number of travel brands, and the firm appointed a new director of travel last year.

SNP minister turns PR man

The Government's Advisory Committee on Business Appointments has approved former Scottish Government minister Marco Biagi's new role with a PR and public affairs firm. The SNP's ex-local government and community empowerment minister is taking up a part-time, paid role with Edinburgh's Message Matters.

FWD's Adrian Beeby joins Luther Pendragon

Luther Pendragon has appointed Adrian Beeby as an associate director in its specialist financial and professional services team, which has a focus on general insurance. Beeby was previously a director of PRWeek Top 150 agency FWD, and is the former head of media relations for Lloyd’s of London as well as working for Lewisham Council and UK water industry trade body Water UK. He will report to director Caroline Wagstaff, and began in the new role on Monday.

VisitBrighton hires Switched On

Brighton consumer lifestyle agency Switched On has won a retained brief with VisitBrighton – the official tourism body for the City of Brighton & Hove – following a five-way pitch process. Switched On will be responsible for driving visitor numbers and spending through traditional media and a series of social media activities. Work begins next month.

Catawiki hires Marlin

Online auction house Catawiki has appointed Marlin PR to drive brand awareness in the UK, following a three-way pitch. Catawiki sells 30,000 objects every week with 12 million visitors monthly. The agency has already orchestrated a charity-led campaign called Jeans for Refugees, in which celebrities' trousers are sold to raise money for US-headquartered NGO the International Rescue Committee.

STIHL appoints HROC

Petrol chainsaw maker STIHL has appointed Birmingham's HROC PR to launch its first consumer-focused range of gardening power tools in Great Britain. HROC will deliver an integrated programme of consumer PR, live events, social media and blogger outreach.

Roses for The Communication Group plc

The Communication Group plc has been appointed to handle the UK PR for luxury rose brand, Roses Only. Roses Only launches in the UK following two decades of operation in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, sourcing and delivering long-stemmed roses all year round.
