Prowse & Co set to handle Patent Office campaign

The Patent Office is set to launch a PR campaign to promote innovation among the business and university sectors.

The three-year campaign by the government body, which is responsible for protecting intellectual property rights, aims to bring higher education and business closer.

Following a lengthy competitive pitch - delayed due to the long-term illness of assistant head of marketing and PR Geoff Sargant - incumbent of eight years Prowse & Co has been reappointed to handle the campaign.

The Prowse & Co team, which reports to PO head of marketing Philip Johnson, is headed by account director Deborah Fields.

Johnson said: 'Our programme needs to make intellectual property understandable and relevant to businesses, engineers, academics and marketing people.'

The first PR push is expected to coincide with the start of the next academic year in September.
