SAN FRANCISCO: Fenton has hired former Allison+Partners EVP Henk Campher as its West Coast MD.

Campher started in the role on July 1 and is reporting to the firm’s newly minted CEO Michael Huttner and founder and chairman David Fenton. Campher replaced Sandy Skees, who left Fenton in April to become regional director and principal consultant for BSI EHS Services and Solutions, according to her LinkedIn profile.

As MD, Campher is leading Fenton’s San Francisco and Los Angeles offices, overseeing 16 staffers. He is handling the day-to-day management of the firm’s West Coast offices and building on Fenton’s identity in CSR and sustainability.

"Part of the reason why I joined was that the agency world lacks an agency of size that has a history steeped in the social impact and purpose space and defining what that means from the kind of disruptive communications services that social impact brands need," said Campher. "I will be helping to develop that discipline as part of the senior leadership team and expanding the business in the West Coast."

Campher most recently served as EVP of social impact at Allison+Partners. The South Africa native co-led the social impact group alongside Allison+Partners cofounder Scott Pansky, who will continue to oversee the agency’s cause marketing and nonprofit marketing communications services. There are no immediate plans to replace Campher, who left the firm on June 30.

Matthew Della Croce, Allison+Partners’ president of global corporate and Europe, said the agency wishes Campher the best in the new role and explained his firm expects to add talent to its social impact group.

"The social impact group at Allison+Partners continues to grow and expand its offering to clients, having grown revenues by double digits over the past two years, and we anticipate similar growth in 2016," Della Croce said.

Before joining Allison last July, Campher worked at Edelman for six years, most recently as SVP of the firm’s business and social purpose practice and MD of sustainability. While at Edelman, he provided strategic counsel to clients including eBay, Kellogg's, The North Face, Johnson & Johnson, and Unilever.

Earlier in his career, Campher was VP for corporate responsibility at Cone, director of corporate policy and practices for the International Business Leaders Forum, and policy adviser for the private sector for Oxfam.

This story was updated with comment from Della Croce on July 5.
