My report to shareholders in the 2016 annual report began with the words, "These are good times for Next Fifteen."
These words indicated no victory lap. Self-satisfaction is not a feature of a management team led by Tim Dyson, who purposefully believes businesses are defined by their ability to innovate and embrace change, especially in our sector where the revolution is far from spent.
However, notwithstanding the normal vicissitudes of agency life, the group posted record profits. But it’s a just result for the calm Brit who joined the company in 1984 and will chalk up 25 years as CEO next year.
His eclectic passion for the business is expressed in a range of traits that should not exist in one person. He is an entrepreneur and provocateur, yet a patient decentralist. Contrarian in the face of conventional wisdom, yet a steady deliverer of shareholder value, he navigates the boundaries of creativity and commerce with a balance that eludes many, believing unswervingly in the power of culture and talent over growth targets.
Tim is widely respected and liked among our people, clients, shareholders, and competitors alike.
