18 UK PR nominations at Cannes, including two for Freuds and three for Engine

UK PR and ad agencies have received a total of 18 nominations in the Cannes Lions.

After the US' 40 nominations, the UK was tied second with Sweden as the country with the most nominations - and one ahead of France on 17.

The UK PR firms nominated (in order of appearance on the shortlist) are:

  • The Romans for No Label: The World's First Transgender Beer (Client: Brewdog) in the food and drink category
  • Two for Freuds for Change4Life Sugar Smart (Client: Public Health England) in public sector, and another for The Global Goals Campaign (Client: Project Everyone) in multi-market campaigns
  • Three nominations for Engine London for Missing Type (Client: NHS Blood and Transplant and National Blood Week) in media relations, innovative use of social media and innovative campaign led by PR (nb: this won a Gold Lion in the Health & Wellbeing Lions)
  • Pitch PR for Switching Saddles - Victoria Pendleton (Client: Betfair) in sponsorship and partnership
  • Taylor Herring for Dad Dancing at Thorpe Park (Client: Thorpe Park Resort) in cost/creative performance PR campaign (see film at end of story)

The non-PR firms on the list are:

  • Chi & Partners for Slide Amazing in Motion (Client: Lexus International) in luxury goods and services
  • FCB Inferno for Change Please (Client: The Big Issue) in charity and not-for-profit
  • Two nominations for Grey London for #Jointheherd (Client: WildAid) in charity and not-for-profit, and social community building/management, and a third for The Ivory Burn (Client: WildAid) in response/real-time activity
  • Two nominations for Ogilvy & Mather for Breathless Choir (Client: Philips) in corporate communications and reputation management and media relations (nb: this won the Pharma Lions Grand Prix), and a third for #LeBigSwim (Client: Heineken) in celebrity endorsement
  • Blue Hive London (A WPP agency) for Merry Little Cars (Client: Ford) in internal communications and employee engagement
  • McCann for Survival Billboard (Client: Microsoft XBox/Tomb Raider) in content-led engagement and marketing

Winners will be announced on Tuesday evening.
