INTERNATIONAL: France football referees job for Euro RSCG Works

PARIS: The French football league has hired Euro RSCG Works for a PR push to promote a better image for referees in France.

The body - the Federation Francaise de Football (FFB) - has tasked the agency with running a national press and PR campaign in a bid to change public perceptions of refereeing following a number of match-fixing scandals.

The campaign will be launched in conjunction with France's participation in the 2002 World Cup.

The PR push also coincides with the FFB's decision to sell ad space on referees' kit, to sportswear chain But.

The FFB expects to announce other sponsors in the next few weeks.

It is understood the PR campaign will be partly financed by the profits of the kit sponsorship, which is also said to go towards referee training courses and facilities.
