PUBLIC SECT0R: Details emerge of seasonal effort to woo rural tourists

Three further PR pushes are planned later this year as part of a 40-organisation-strong campaign to woo tourists back to rural areas.

Details have emerged of the year-long PR strategy of the campaign, designed to counter the affects of foot-and-mouth disease on the rural economy.

Titled 'Your Countryside, you're welcome', it was launched this week by the actress Joan Collins at a ceremony in London's Leicester Square

The campaign will be seasonal and partner organisations - including the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Countryside Agency - are in talks with the campaign's retained agency, Biss Lancaster, to hammer out details of the next push in summer.

Further PR pushes will follow for autumn and winter.

Biss Lancaster director Michelle Waldron said: 'The Queen's Golden Jubilee this summer ties in with our campaign theme of heritage.'
