PRWeek UK 30 Under 30 2016: Chloe French, Direct Line Group

French (28) entered PR from a different role at Direct Line three-and-a-half years ago, and has more than risen to the challenge.

As media relations manager French has managed every part of the rebranding of its Privilege Insurance offer – the fastest growing part of the business – and has boosted motor coverage for the group’s brands since taking on the motor strategy.

The best thing about my job is… I’m kept on my toes and my interest is piqued each day.

The biggest misconception about PR is... that PR is an easy job. Anyone who says this grossly underestimates and discredits PR professionals whose counsel often helps shape the businesses they are advising, often at board level. We are trusted advisers, skilled creatives, exceptional writers, shrewd influencers, cool and calm crisis management experts, organisational wizards and human encyclopaedias on our specialisms.

My biggest inspiration is… Frances Browning, head of brand PR and social media at Direct Line Group, because she is the reason I am in PR.

In five years’ time I want to be... heading up a well-respected PR team.

Nominator says: "Her leadership skills and crisis management handling are fantastic for someone of her age and experience."
