Cicero hires financial services veteran

Cicero Group has appointed David Butcher, a financial services industry veteran, as strategic counsel. Butcher’s 37-year career includes stints as CEO of Invesco Pensions, MD of Save & Prosper Financial Services, head of marketing and sales at Credit Lyonnais Asset Management and chairman of the Optimum Health Clinic Foundation. He will assist Cicero’s executive team and client on long-term savings issues, financial services policy and shaping wider senior counsel and corporate comms strategies.

Former IDS special adviser joins MHP

MHP Communications has brought in Lisa Hunter, a former special adviser to Iain Duncan Smith at the Department for Work and Pensions. Hunter, who was most recently head of media for Lloyd’s of London, has joined MHP’s corporate affairs team as an associate director. She was also a special adviser to the former Culture, Media and Sport secretary Jeremy Hunt between November 2011 and June 2012.

Wellcome Trust hires Third City

Charitable foundation The Wellcome Trust has appointed Third City to provide PR and social media support to launch The Crunch Week, an awareness campaign that runs from 16 May as part of the charitable foundation’s year-long initiative to get the nation talking about our food, health and planet.

Frank celebrates Jeans for Genes

The charity Genetic Disorders UK has chosen Frank to promote its annual charity fundraising event, Jeans for Genes Day. The agency will manage all consumer publicity in the lead up to Jeans for Genes Day, which takes place on Friday, 23 September, leading on a celebrity campaign strategy and promoting its official limited edition fashion T-shirt.
