MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: LinkedIn has appointed former Cisco chief communications officer Melissa Selcher as its VP of corporate communications, the company confirmed this week.
Her LinkedIn profile stated that she is based in the San Francisco Bay area, though the size of her team and to whom she is reporting were unknown as of press time.
At Cisco, Selcher was director of analyst relations beginning in 2008. She was promoted to senior director of investor relations and analyst relations in 2011 and named VP and chief communications officer almost three years later, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She began her career at computer software company Trilogy, where she was its marketing and communications manager for two years starting in 1996. Selcher has also held roles at Matrix Semiconductor and Sun Microsystems.
Selcher is joining LinkedIn as the company is feeling more bullish about its 2016 financial performance. The social network for professionals increased its revenue forecast for the year by $50 million on Thursday during a first-quarter earnings report in which it handily beat analysts’ expectations.
Earlier this month, LinkedIn opened its first data center outside of the U.S. in Singapore, a $63.2 million investment that is servicing its growing customer base in the Asia-Pacific region.
In March, former Cisco senior director of corporate communications David McCulloch joined GE to lead global communications for GE Power Digital, a new software business.
