WE Communications has bolstered its Greater China consumer and technology practices by hiring new leads Michael Jones and Annie Ho.

Jones will be based in Beijing and focus on the consumer divisions at WE’s Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong offices.

He has 15 years’ experience in PR, working at agencies including Weber Shandwick before setting up his own firm, Create Consulting, five years ago.

Jones (pictured) has worked for clients including Dreamworld, South African Airways, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Texas Tourism.

Ho joins from Pacnet, where she managed the company’s corporate comms in nine countries across Asia, the UK and US.

Her 14 years’ experience include working for brands such as Spotify, Akamai, Trend Micro and Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation.

In her new role at WE, based in Hong Kong, Ho will be responsible for growing the technology practice. Moreover, together with Jones, she will look to further integrate WE’s comms offering in Asia-Pacific.

"We are delighted to see Michael and Annie join the WE family," said Matthew Lackie, WE executive vice president for APAC.

"More than ever, as China brands expand globally, we need deep expertise and skills to express the essential insights at the heart of technology, brands and consumers. Bringing on board the likes of Michael and Annie set us along the right path to achieving that for our clients."

In addition, WE has hired Michelle Tan (pictured) as learning and development programme manager.

Previously at Barclays, Tan will help launch a new internal talent programme at the agency, aimed at ensuring staff development and improving retention rates.
