Reyes exits global comms role at Tesla

The electric carmaker's VP of global comms leaves after less than 18 months in his second stint in the role.

Ricardo Reyes has left his position as VP of global communications at Tesla Motors, a Tesla spokesperson confirmed Wednesday. Tesla did not offer any more information about Reyes’ departure.

Reyes held the top comms job for less than 18 months. He was responsible for PR, product announcements, crisis communications, and Tesla’s online presence globally.

Previously he was VP of global communications and strategic marketing at Tesla from 2009 to 2012, which he left to join the communications team at the start-up Square.

Prior to his first stint at Tesla, Reyes served as head of communications and public affairs for YouTube and Google. Before that he managed crisis comms at Bracewell & Giuliani and worked in the White House as a spokesperson for Cabinet member Robert Zoellick and on the George W. Bush 2000 presidential campaign, according to his LinkedIn profile.
