Head of PR Robert Nadin is understood to be overseeing the review alongside bmi's marketing department, with a conclusion likely to be reached within one month. The move is the second stage of a regional agency review process, instigated at the end of last year, which has already seen UK and Ireland PR handling reviewed.
PR in Scotland, currently held by Countrywide Porter Novelli, is to be taken in-house when that agency's contract expires within one month, while external agency agreements with Future Image Northern Ireland and Edelman PR Worldwide in Eire continue, unaffected by the review.
The PR brief is likely to include work for spin-off bmi baby, which launched this week. PR duties for the low-cost carrier are currently handled by the airline's five-strong in-house team along with its retained agencies, including Hill & Knowlton in the UK.
All the agencies will work alongside both the Castle Donington-based in-house team and the marketing team.
