Edelman boosts 2015 global revenues 7.2% to $855m

The world's largest PR agency grew solidly again in 2015, posting substantial global and US revenue growth.

NEW YORK: Edelman’s global PR revenues were up 7.2% in calendar year 2015 on a like-for-like basis, reaching $854.6 million (£606 million, €786.1 million) from $812.3 million in the year prior.

The growth rate was down slightly from its 2014 numbers, when Edelman posted organic calendar-year growth of 8.2%. The 2014 figure compares with organic growth of 11.4% in 2013 and 9.6% in 2012.

US revenues were up 7.1% organically last year to $523.1 million from $482.1 million.

In Europe, revenue was up 6.3%, on a like-for-like basis, which does not take into account acquisitions, disposals, or currency fluctuations. However, on an actual basis, 2015 revenue in Europe was $156.5 compared with $156.7 the year prior. (Some revenues were adversely affected by currency fluctuations).

The region encompassing Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East posted organic growth of 11.9% to $126.7 million. Latin America grew 9.6%, though actual revenue fell from $23.4 million to $20.1 million. Canada was down 6%, mainly due to the loss of the TransCanada account, to $27.6 million.

Organic growth was up 14.4% in APACMEA and 6% in Europe for the 2014 calendar year. U.S. revenue in 2014 increased 7.1% to $482.1 million from $450.4 million in 2013.

Overall global growth, including acquisitions and the impact of foreign exchange rates, was 5.2%. Broken down region-by-region, it grew 8.5% in the U.S. and 8.2% in APACMEA, but fell by 16.3% in Canada, 11.3% in Latin America, 0.2% in Europe.

Edelman’s fiscal year runs from July to June. In 2014-15, ending June 30 of last year, it reported organic growth of 8.5% with revenues hitting $833 million.
