Andres Vejarano leaves Edelman for DeVries Global

Former co-head of Edelman Hong Kong joins DeVries in newly created Asia role and is the second senior executive to leave Edelman in past few months

DeVries Global has hired Andres Vejarano as regional managing director for Asia. He will begin in the newly created role in April.

Vejarano joins from Edelman Hong Kong, where he spent six years growing the firm’s consumer, digital and technology practices.

In November, Vejarano was made co-head of Edelman Hong Kong after former managing director Andrew Kirk resigned.

Prior to this, Vejarano held senior marketing positions at brands including Unilever, Microsoft and Sony.

Vejarano has extensive experience in technology, telecoms and consumer PR. During his time at Edelman, he handled global comms for Tencent and ZTE, and ran campaigns for LinkedIn and Canon.

On the consumer side, Vejarano led accounts for clients including Ikea, Starbucks and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

At DeVries, Vejarano will be responsible for building the agency’s presence in new and existing Asian markets. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to DeVrieas Global CEO Heidi Hovland.

Bob Grove, Edelman’s North Asia CEO, said Vejarano had a "terrific six years" at the firm.

"He has helped drive our transformation to a multi-disciplinary and multi-channel communications and marketing agency while grooming a strong set of leaders across his teams.

"Andres has long been and will always remain a good friend of Edelman and I am sure he will be successful in his new role."

Edelman Hong Kong will continue to be led by Adrian Warr with support from Grove and the senior leadership team until a new managing director is found.
