Shutterstock names Siobhan Aalders comms leader

She is joining the company as it grows its editorial footprint.

NEW YORK: Shutterstock has hired Siobhan Aalders as VP of communications.

She is charged with leading the development and execution of the digital imagery and music company’s communications strategy. Aalders is reporting to Jon Oringer, founder and CEO.

She said the company’s editorial influence is growing after deals with Penske Media and BFA and through the acquisition of Rex Features last year.

"I believe there are really exciting times ahead for the company as it continues to build on its core offering, further establishing itself in both editorial imagery and in creative workflow," she said.

Aalders was most recently president of Capstan Communications, where she oversaw strategies for early stage technology companies and startups. Previously, she was EVP in the technology practice of Ogilvy Public Relations, SVP of worldwide communications and television at Weber Shandwick, and director of media relations for APCO Europe. Aalders also supported the company during its IPO four years go.

"[Aalders’] experience and in-depth understanding of brand strategy and corporate positioning will be invaluable as we continue to grow our company, our brand, and our product offerings," said Oringer, via email.
