Client conflict for Freuds means BT work scaled back

Freud Communications is to have less involvement with BT due to a client conflict.

Freuds director Oliver Wheeler said the agency has decided to 'wind in' the work undertaken for BT. 'Because of a conflict of interest with another significant client, we have scaled back some of our work with BT,' he said.

It is believed the agency's work with internet service provider Freeserve, to which Freuds is lead agency, is the cause of the overlap.

BT Retail communications director Jonathon Russell said the agency was not undertaking any work for the company at the moment, but remained one of the firm's 12 roster agencies.

The relationship between the two parties is longstanding, with the agency having most recently promoted campaigns such as BT's tie-in with pop group S Club 7 and its use of movie character ET in ads.
