NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has named Teresa Henderson, former SVP of client development at Saxum, as corporate and financial practice MD and market leader for the Southwest.
She is reporting to Alan Sexton, US corporate practice chair and New York market leader. Henderson replaced Matt Burns, who is now a VP of communications at UnitedHealthcare, as Southwest market leader.
Sexton said the firm is "bullish about the Southwest," noting that Texas is closing in on the number of Fortune 500 companies located in New York. Henderson is based in Dallas.
"We think there’s a ton of opportunity across Texas and across the Southwest, as well," he added
Henderson, who has experience in the energy sector, said she will focus on airlines and the large number of retailers based in the region. She added that energy clients are looking for services including change management support, internal communications help, and stakeholder communications assistance, in particular IR support.
Sexton noted Henderson’s experience working with a variety of organizations and said she’s spent most of her life in Texas. She began working at the WPP firm this month.
Prior to joining Saxum in early 2015, she was SVP and GM at Pierpont Communications, EVP, GM, and Southwest corporate practice leader at Edelman, and SVP and director at Ketchum, according to her LinkedIn page.
