Constantinides, who is currently director of comms at the University of Essex – a role she has held since 2013, according to LinkedIn – will join the council for the arts in England in March.
As director of media and stakeholder relations, she will be responsible for reputation management and advocacy for public investments in the arts and will lead the Art’s Council’s media, internal comms, stakeholder and public affairs teams.
The Arts Council is a registered charity that distributes money from the National Lottery and the Government. It spent £853m in 2014/15, supporting a range of activities across the arts, museums and libraries by investing in them.
Constantinides will report to Mags Patten, national director of advocacy and comms, who said: "I’m delighted Irene is joining us. She has a lot of experience in actively advocating and in leading teams. I’m looking forward to her applying her energy to demonstrating how the arts and culture benefits us as individuals, as a society and our creative economy."
Before the University of Essex, Constantinides had worked for London Metropolitan University and as a journalist.
Constantinides will succeed former director of media and stakeholder relations Cassie Chadderton, who left the organisation in December to join performing arts membership body UK Theatre.
