Mather, who began his new role this week, is based in MWW's London office and strengthens the agency's consumer offering across the technology, media and financial services sectors.
He spent the past three years at MasterCard as senior comms manager for the UK and Ireland. Before this he worked at Samsung where he led the sponsorship comms for London 2012, delivering its best social and traditional PR results since sponsoring the IOC.
Mather has also worked agency-side for the Red Consultancy and Freuds, creating campaigns for brands and organisations including McDonald's, Samsung, LOCOG, Vodafone, McLaren Mercedes, Nike and Cobra Beer.
