LifeSkills is a free, curriculum-led programme created with Barclays, and is offering 18- to 24 year olds week-long work placements at 16 Barclays Premier League clubs (including Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur) as well as entertainment organisations and venues such as The O2, Shazam and the Barclaycard Arena.
The placements will take place in February 2016 and cover marketing, coaching, administration, retail, hospitality and catering.
Havas SE Cake has been working with Barclays on the campaign, which is backed by music artist Tinie Tempah, who stars in a 60-second video on the Barclays Football Facebook Page and other social media channels. It urges young people to follow their passion and sign up for the chance of a placement.
Kirstie Mackey, head of LifeSkills, said: "These work placements have the potential to help young people from all backgrounds see what is available if you work hard and follow your passion – they just need to take that first step by signing up with LifeSkills."
Tinie Tempah said: "It’s not all about the artist on stage at The O2 or the Barclays Premier League striker scoring in front of 60,000 fans. There’s always an unbelievable team behind those people. So, if you’ve ever dreamed of being part of the action, make sure you apply for one of the placements. It could be a first step on the path to an incredible career."
The campaign will be supported by a team of 'YouTubers' including Spencer FC, F2 Freestylers, Hannah Trigwell and Sarah Close, who will help engage young people by filming behind-the-scenes within the sport and entertainment industries to showcase the opportunities on offer.
