The role is the first regional PR lead on BuzzFeed's international comms team and reflects the company's continued growth in the UK and Europe.
Heneghan joined today (7 December) from Channel 4, where he has been publicity manager for the past four years, managing the comms for the launch of Gogglebox into prime time. He was also part of the PR team that worked on a London 2012 Paralympic Games campaign that helped change attitudes to disability.
Previously he worked at the BBC as a press officer and later as a publicist on BBC News, where he managed media campaigns for Panorama and Newsnight. He was also a member of BBC News’ comms team for the 2010 British general election, and managed the publicity for Jeremy Paxman interviews with the Prime Minister and other party leaders.
In August BuzzFeed secured a global deal with GroupM, the global media planning and buying arm of WPP, which will see the two companies share their resources for mutual benefit in creative domains.
