MGM Grand Detroit bets on Weber Shandwick

More than six months after naming sister agency McCann Detroit as its integrated AOR, the hotel and casino appointed Weber Shandwick as its PR agency of record.

DETROIT: MGM Grand Detroit, a part of MGM Resorts International, has named Weber Shandwick as its PR AOR, the firm said Thursday in a statement.

The agency will lead a comprehensive communications program to enhance the hotel’s position as a leading entertainment destination in the Detroit metro area. It is also responsible for driving awareness of MGM Grand Detroit’s CSR initiatives, community partnerships, and volunteer programs. Weber will specifically help MGM Grand Detroit engage visitors and showcase its contributions to the city of Detroit, according to a statement.

Weber Shandwick deputy GM Ellyn Damiani is leading account work.

The hotel named McCann Detroit, Weber’s sister agency in Interpublic Group, as its integrated AOR in early April following a competitive review.

The hotel has 400 guest rooms, including nine rooftop VIP suites, and 56 corner suites. It also has 30,000 square feet of meeting space. Chef Wolfgang Puck has two restaurants on the property.

Representatives from Weber and MGM Grand Detroit were not immediately available for comment.
