PRWeek reported in July that the cinema chain was looking for a UK consumer PR agency, following the arrival of marketing director Shona Gold from Lonely Planet.
The consumer account was previously held by Clarion Communications, which won the contract in 2009.
Edelman will work closely with Vue as the lead PR agency, working across national campaigns, brand PR and raising awareness of the cinema industry within the premium leisure and entertainment sector.
Only Beattie, which has experience in retail with clients including Specsavers and M&S, has a regional footprint across the UK. The agency will be responsible for local PR across the 84 Vue cinemas in the UK and Ireland.
The pitch process was overseen by Lucy Northmore, PR manager at Vue.
Earlier this year Brunswick was hired to manage Vue's international PR account after a four-way pitch.
The agency refresh follows a significant investment in the business.
