Aloha names L'Occitane's Rachael Szporn as PR, events leader

Reporting to Aloha head of marketing Lee Hurley, Szporn's main responsibilities include expanding and overseeing the brand's communications strategy.

NEW YORK: Health and wellness company Aloha has appointed L’Occitane’s Rachael Szporn as its head of PR and events.

Szporn, who was promoted to director of PR and events at L’Occitane last April, joined Aloha in mid-October. She succeeded John Weiss, who left the company this summer to launch his own PR firm, The Speakeasy Agency, alongside former William Grant & Sons PR leader James Curich.

Reporting to Aloha head of marketing Lee Hurley, Szporn’s main responsibilities include expanding and overseeing the brand’s communication strategy in partnership with its PR firm, Susan Magrino Agency.

She said via email that she will work to "increase, strengthen, and maintain key relationships with media and influencers, as well as develop and execute strategic partnership events."

In Szporn’s previous role, she served as L’Occitane’s first in-house PR director, a hire the beauty brand made as part of its strategy to handle all communications efforts internally. She was responsible for all media relations in the US, commercial media opportunities, promotions, and advertising.

Prior to joining L’Occitane in 2012, Szporn served as global communications manager at Kiehl’s, a cosmetic brand owned by L’Oreal.
