Kemp joins the electricity and gas company, which has some operations in the US alongside its UK business, having been at Open Road since February 2014.

Prior to Open Road, which is part of Blue Rubicon, Kemp was a journalist and latterly a comms special adviser in Downing Street for four years during the previous coalition Government.

Kemp takes up the new post on 9 November and will be responsible for further developing National Grid’s media relations strategy, enhancing its reputation and supporting business objectives.

Chris Mostyn left the role of head of corporate media relations at National Grid at the end of last month, and is taking time out with his young family before his next venture.
