Cohn & Wolfe has bolstered its footprint in India by acquiring local communications firm Six Degrees and its marketing unit Alphabet Consulting.
The move will see new firm, Cohn & Wolfe Six Degrees, expand its reach to include three major Indian cities. Cohn & Wolfe opened offices in Mumbai and Delhi in 2012, while Six Degrees operates in both those cities but also has a presence in Bangalore.
Founded in 2009 by Rishi Seth and Zacharia James, Six Degrees has experience in all aspects of communications strategy, including public relations, crisis management, public affairs and digital media.
It generates content and marketing initiatives through subsidiary Alphabet Consulting, which has also become part of the Cohn & Wolfe family. Seth and James are group CEOs, responsible for the new firm’s operations across India.
Six Degrees advises clients in the technology, finance, aviation, entertainment and hospitality sectors, among others. These industries significantly enhance Cohn & Wolfe’s offering in India, which is strongest in the tourism and travel markets.
According to Cohn & Wolfe CEO Donna Imperato, Six Degrees’ Bangalore reputation was a key driver for the deal as it is the centre of India’s burgeoning technology sector.
"India is a strategic priority for Cohn & Wolfe, and Six Degrees has the entrepreneurial culture, seasoned talent and drive to succeed that will help us capitalize on the tremendous opportunity for growth here," Imperato said.
"The agency’s presence in Bangalore, the country’s technology hub, and their work in technology, finance and corporate complements the Cohn & Wolfe India team’s extensive lifestyle and consumer experience."
Cohn & Wolfe’s client roster in India includes Austrian Airlines, Wyndham Hotel Group, Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines and Ruckus Wireless.
To that, Six Degrees brings companies such as Amadeus, Cushman & Wakefield, Nokia, Ricoh and Ingersoll Rand.
Seth said: "We believe that Cohn & Wolfe is the best partner for the culture, passion and energy of Six Degrees and Alphabet Consulting. We are excited to start this new journey to make a bigger play for growth through integrated marketing services."
Cohn & Wolfe now has 11 offices across the Asia-Pacific region.
