NEW YORK: Univision Communications has upped Rosemary Mercedes to SVP of corporate communications, effective immediately.
She continues to report to Univision EVP of corporate communications and PR Monica Talan and is based in New York.
Mercedes was not immediately available for comment on her new role.
Mercedes has worked at Univision since 2006, serving in various positions. Most recently, she was the company’s VP for corporate communications. In that role, Mercedes managed the New York-based communications team, defining strategy and providing communications counsel to leadership across the company on key internal and external initiatives, according to a statement.
In 2008, Mercedes was part of the team that founded the corporate communications and PR department, and four years later, she spearheaded the company’s first social media team. That same year, she was selected to form part of its inaugural leadership development program, which is a group of the top 40 high-potential leaders in the company.
During her time at Univision, she has also created a comms strategy that launched three networks for Univision and UVideos, the bilingual digital network targeting Hispanic Americans.
Before joining Univision, Mercedes was Pace University’s manager of public information, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Mercedes was one of PRWeek’s 40 Under 40 in 2013.
