Joe McCaffrey first got his training in social media on the road – quite literally. In a past life, he traveled the globe as a guitarist, and relied on grassroots efforts in social media to help build buzz about his music. It worked: his band won Yahoo Music’s "Who’s Next?" competition, and earned honors in the mtvU Woodie Awards. Today, he’s based in one place – at Huge, one of the biggest employers in New York’s thriving tech neighbourhood, DUMBO. But while he may not take his guitar out as much, he is still doing lots of social media, as the agency’s planning director, head of social.
McCaffrey, who has risen up the ranks since joining the agency in 2010, has spearheaded social strategy plans and campaigns for the likes of Audi, Pepsi, Samsung, and Target. Prior to joining Huge, he led influencer outreach at rival DUMBO agency Cake, where his client responsibilities included Hyundai, Motorola, and Sears.
