Aldi spells out 'poo' on label of extra virgin olive oil

The budget supermarket has made its second packaging blunder this month after the label on its extra virgin oil appears to say 'poo'.

The extra virgin olive oil, which is part of the store's luxury line, includes a 'Protected Designation of Origin' food label in accordance with EU rules.

Designers shortened the phrase to its initials, PDO, attracting sniggers from shoppers who mistook the lettering for the word 'POO'.

Last week, the supermarket had to alter the packaging of its Gourmet Crackers after a graphic design of the word 'country' made it look like the 'c-word'.

Aldi posted a message on Facebook saying: "Thanks for posting and for bringing this to our attention. We'll be sure to pass your feedback onto the relevant department."
