NEW YORK: MSLGroup has appointed Edelman New York corporate and public affairs leader Ron Guirguis as CEO of its US operations, effective next Monday.
Guirguis will report to global CEO Guillaume Herbette, who took on his role last month after serving as global vice chairman of operations at FleishmanHillard. Herbette had worked at Fleishman since 1998, and Guirguis also spent 13 years at the Omnicom Group firm prior to joining Edelman three years ago.
Guirguis will work closely with Herbette, Publicis Worldwide CEO Arthur Sadoun, and other senior executives across the agency as part of his focus on leading MSL’s growth in the US, according to a statement from the firm.
Guirguis’ appointment follows a number of leadership shifts at MSLGroup and parent company Publicis Groupe in recent weeks.
At the beginning of August, former MSLGroup president of North America Paul Newman left the agency. Global CFO Peter Miller took over the position in the interim at that time.
When Herbette joined the firm, he succeeded Olivier Fleurot as MSLGroup’s chief executive. Fleurot stepped into an SVP role at Publicis Groupe.
Herbette is reporting to Sadoun, who took on direct supervision of MSLGroup.
Before Guirguis’ most recent role at Edelman, he held several positions at Fleishman, including MD of public affairs in Canada and SVP, senior partner, and deputy GM of the firm’s New York office.
An Edelman representative said the firm appreciates all of Guirguis' work over the years and wishes him well in his next endeavor.
Information about Guirguis' replacement was not immediately available.
