A Conservative Party press officer was yesterday discovered at an event for Labour leadership frontrunner Jeremy Corbyn - but made a swift exit when caught on film by Channel 4 News journalist Michael Crick.

A video published on YouTube by Channel 4 yesterday evening - which can be seen below - shows Crick approaching Mike Watkinson at the pro-Corbyn meeting in Nuneaton yesterday.

Crick said: "Mr Watkinson? Mr Watkinson of the Conservative Party?" The press officer replied by laughing and saying "I don't know what you're talking about" as he made a swift exit from the event.

Those were the only words Crick got out of Watkinson. Crick is then seen asking a number of questions of Watkinson including what he was doing at the event, who he had been sent by and where he was going now, but the press officer declined to comment on any of these as he briskly walked back to his car.

PRWeek has approached the Conservatives for comment, including on whether party staff have attended other Labour events.

There has been no comment made through the Labour Party's Twitter account or website, Jeremy Corbyn's own Twitter account or website or the JeremyCorbyn4Leader account.

Labour's new leader will be announced on Saturday.
