NEW YORK: The Pramana Collective has hired former Chelsea Clinton spokesperson Kamyl Bazbaz and Rent the Runway’s PR director, Kristen Whisenand.
Bazbaz and Whisenand joined Pramana’s New York office three months after Brendan Lewis was hired by the firm to establish a foothold in the city.
For the past two years, Bazbaz has served as Clinton’s press secretary and senior communications adviser for the Clinton Foundation.
Prior to that, he was a deputy assistant administrator for public affairs and spokesman at USAID, according to a blog post written by Lewis on Thursday.
Whisenand joined Pramana from Rent the Runway, an online service that provides designer dress and accessory rentals, where she has worked since last June, according to her LinkedIn page. She oversaw corporate and executive comms and launched its brick-and-mortar locations and "unlimited" subscription program, Lewis said in the post.
Prior to that, Whisenand spent nearly five years at Yelp, most recently as senior PR manager. At Yelp, she led North American PR, crisis communications, product launches, and local market outreach.
Pramana also hired Caroline Caswell, who will be based in the firm’s San Francisco office. Most recently, she led consumer marketing and social media for Shazam.
Last August, Pramana named former Hulu head of comms Meredith Kendall as principal.
Pramana’s cofounders include Sean Garrett, Brandee Barker, and Brian O'Shaughnessy.
Garrett, the former VP of communications at Twitter, began collaborating with Barker, who was previously director of global communications and public policy at Facebook, and O'Shaughnessy, the former head of global communications at Skype, in early 2013. They revealed the name "the Pramana Collective" in March 2013 via a Tumblr post.
